Prescott House Brotherhood

Prescott House has provided outstanding services to men and their families from across the country and abroad. Throughout the years, we have found that long-term recovery is best achieved through long-term treatment. Prescott House is committed to providing precisely that: excellent clinical care in a close-knit recovery community. This commitment is founded on a firm belief in the recovery of the mind, body, and spirit.

Psychiatric Rehabilitation

At Prescott House, our approach to total-body wellness is what sets us apart from other programs. Continuing to evolve our mental health services, therapeutic treatment and the approach to holistic treatment of the condition. Overall, Prescott House finds the cause of the problem within each individual and develops a specific approach to treat it at its source rather than just hiding the symptoms from view.

Our professional staff of knowledgeable and qualified addiction treatment experts make this successful program possible. With a clinical staff consisting of a medical director, psychiatrist, two consulting psychologists, primary therapists, an Eating Disorders therapist, and four certified sex addiction therapists (CSAT) and one in training. We also have a PH.D-level spiritual adviser on staff who works with individuals regularly to be sure to meet their spiritual needs.

The Prescott House staff is constantly striving to improve the level of excellence through careful placement of qualified individuals. Our therapeutic model is community-based, utilizing group therapy, family-of-origin therapy, and advanced educational groups in addition to more traditional therapies.

Engaging Transparency

Throughout the week, individuals are encouraged to ask questions and engage our professional staff in order to bring forth any suggestions or criticisms in order to better facilitate the treatment options not just for each individual, but every individual that follows our tradition in the future. Outside of our staff, we also encourage the same level of engagement during our group therapy sessions which allow group members to have an impact on the group as a whole as well as its policies and guidelines. Engaging with the group and staff enables an active contribution to the therapy which is great for mental well-being while in recovery. This approach also develops effective skills to reasoning and conflict resolution once they leave Prescott House and settle into their new life.

Professional staff members are not only open to this level of feedback, it is encouraged. This level of openness and transparency leads to a level of trust in our psychiatric services, as well as our addiction therapy model that is often difficult to find at most treatment centers. If an individual isn’t connected to some level of control over their own recovery, the process often becomes exponentially more difficult not only for them but also for the group and the professionals they work with. Utilizing high-level professionals from multiple disciplines in the field of mental health in order to provide productive therapy no matter what the individual needs are.

Since 1988, this approach has proven to be highly successful.

Residential Treatment Center for Men

The main facility at Prescott House is designed for independent living accommodations and comfortable group involvement. Six common areas offer the opportunity for peer group meetings. The primary component of the program is the group therapy experience. Clients participate in at least 12 structured therapy groups each week as well as working individually with a primary therapist. Another piece of our program is volunteer service work in the local community until a client is therapeutically ready to get a part-time job or take classes at one of our three local colleges.

We further encourage personal growth and interaction by assigning shared living quarters. Our comfortable apartment-style living offers 2 and 3 bedrooms, one bathroom suites. Individuals share furnished rooms, common areas, and a kitchen. The company of other men provides a chance to build friendship and inter-personal relationship skills based on honesty and gives you an opportunity to express feelings of shame, pain, and loss in a positive and sharing environment.

Individuals purchase their own groceries and prepare their own meals. Each individual receives a weekly allowance from their personal expense budget and must account for all spending each week, reporting with receipts for all purchases to our budget facilitator.

On-Site Professional Medical Staff

All of our individuals at Prescott House have immediate access to medical professionals. We offer the services of a medical director and a consulting psychiatrist, in addition to our professionally-certified staff members.

Recovery Philosophy

Securing Men’s Future

Evolving since 1988, Prescott House has become nationally recognized for men needing extended care treatment. Serving as a residential rehabilitation facility for men from all walks of life, Prescott House provides intensive recovery treatment for addiction as well as other life hindering issues. It is proven that long-term addiction treatment produces long-term results.

Benefits of 12-Step Recovery

The benefits of a 12-step based program like Prescott House, are plentiful. The main reason many attend 12-step meetings is that meetings offer a place to share in their recovery. These sessions also individuals to meet others with similar struggles, allowing them to share and learn new ways to further their progress.

One approach that the 12-step method takes is toward behavior and its effects on others. Each individual is asked to consider how his actions have influenced the feelings and actions of those around him. Appreciative of the opportunity to work towards making up for their actions of those they may have hurt in the past. Holding themselves accountable for their actions, each individual builds a foundation towards restoring and building strong relationships with the people in their lives.

Community Concept

Our therapeutic model is based on the concept of community. Utilizing group therapy while promoting individual work with a therapist. Our belief is that recovery is a process that involves the mind, body, and spirit.

To develop all three components, Prescott House uses a variety of Recovery Support Tools. A therapeutic program first, therapy is only part of the process; our supportive community helps nurture growth. Much of the philosophy comes from the basic principles of Alcoholic Anonymous, leading to accountability, respect, and recovery.

A key component to recovery is learning how to establish boundaries. Our staff helps individuals focus on their interpersonal skills, forcing confrontation of old behaviors. Individuals also develop new life skills by which they can shape their new lives.

Male Only Program

The benefit of Prescott House is that the program is designed specifically for men. Men and women experience addiction differently, and this program focuses on the biological and emotional implications of this fact. With a male-specific program, Prescott House can focus on issues involving anger, emotional intimacy, and relationship skills. Additionally, we eliminate potential distractions that often occur in mixed-gender programs.

Phase One

Through our Phase One approach, individuals have shown appreciation for the customized care plan based on each unique situation. Understanding each person is different and there is no singular path to recovery for everyone to follow, Phase One was developed to integrate newcomers at a secure and confident pace throughout all phases of our program.

How Prescott House Can Help

While many rehabilitation programs place a primary emphasis on altering the destructive behaviors of individuals struggling with substance abuse and addiction, Prescott House recognizes that this approach alone isn’t enough to support long-term sobriety. Prescott House focuses on treating and healing the whole person; helping them identify the underlying source of their self-destructive habits and behaviors. Once the source of the addiction and destructive behavior is identified, the appropriate rehabilitation program is formulated and put into practice. This systemic and therapeutic approach is what has proven our Long-Term Results Since 1988.

Nutrition Benefits in Recovery

The benefit of a well-balanced diet on the body is well-documented. Rather than spending time talking about specific nutrients and dietary patterns that should be followed, Prescott House staff focuses on how nutrition helps you specifically in regards to recovery. Prescott House believes that a combination of therapy is the best form of treatment, as our staff is dedicated to treating the body and the mind rather than only targeting symptoms of addiction or mental health.

Why is Nutrition Important during Treatment?

Nutrition is an important part of recovery for many reasons. Regarding substance abuse, many addicts have a tendency to eat fast food and other unhealthy choices without supplementing the vital nutrients a healthy body needs, also many addicts go extended periods of time without eating anything at all. For example, while chasing the next high or attempting to score drugs, many addicts often forego the cost associated with food, in order to afford their next fix. While high, or during the process of coming down, they may not experience the feelings that many would normally associate with hunger. This leads to severe issues with malnutrition as well as more serious issues of the digestive system, kidneys or even the heart itself.

For most of our individuals, just the practice of eating on a regular schedule is beneficial. Many of them have completely neglected their personal health while the disease of addiction has taken over their lives. Others can experience problems with self-esteem, depression and/or eating disorders which can lead to actively refusing food or even finding the motivation to eat right, or sometimes, eat at all.

Filling the body with healthy nutrients helps provide the body and mind a healthier balance. This balance improves mood, cognitive abilities, and allows the body to heal as it begins to repair itself from the damage caused by addiction.

While understanding the importance of nutrition in recovery is crucial, following through with a proper dietary roadmap is even more important. Prescott House makes it a priority to ensure that each individual in our facility not only understands the importance of eating properly but also has the tools and capability to purchase the right foods.
